In Situ Observation of Solidification and Crystallization of Low-Alloy Steels: A Review

Crystallization during the solidification process of steels is vital importance for controlling quality final products. This paper summarizes in situ characterization research activities crystallization behaviors low-alloy process. The results obtained using high-temperature confocal laser scanning microscope (HT-CLSM) are critically reviewed, and other relevant methodologies, i.e., either classical method differential calorimetry (DSC) or large-scale facility (LSF), also briefly mentioned. evolution front from a planar to cellular further dendritic one, subsequential microstructure evolutions, delta-ferrite (δ) formation liquid, austenite (γ) transformation decomposition, mainly discussed. current review aims highlight state-of-the-art outputs by novel techniques, knowledge shed light on development steel products processing structure correlation.
